Lance Moore Talks About Life and Finance After Football

Lance Moore worked his way from the New Orleans Saints practice squad to being one of the elite receivers in the NFL. During his journey Lance learned a considerable amount of lessons along the way. In particular, he was privy to the financial realities of being both a non-wealthy NFL player as well as having to deal with star status when he struck his first big contract.

Lance and I had a chance to speak in depth about the lessons he’s learned with regard to how the league doesn’t exactly do the best job of teaching its players how to manage their finances, and how Lance had to learn on his own how to deal with all the responsibilities of making a big living as an athlete.

Now, Lance is extremely comfortable in his own skin, has a passion for helping others, and also wants to make other athletes and individuals aware of what is takes to be financially as well as mentally disciplined.

Thanks to the efforts of Moore’s business consultant Michael Harris at Best Sports Consultants and Exigency Group’s Obie Chambers and Bernard Robinson for help putting this interview together.

It is the mission of Moneyinc as well as Lance, Michael, Obie, Bernard, and myself to increase the awareness of money management for professional and aspiring professional athletes. We hope to continue educating players about financial life pre, current, and post career for athletes in their respective sports.
